Review: My 25 for 2025 Goals

2025 has been such a growth based year for me. I accomplished a lot, but I also spent much of this year prioritizing what matters. I’ve been getting a lot of tarot and zodiac readings coming up on my social media, telling me that in a year of the snake, that I would be shedding a lot of things in my life, and that I would be letting go of some things that have needed to cycle out of my life. All of that said, here’s where I landed on my 25 for 2025:

  1. Write a blog post every week(52 blog posts for the year). – I did not do this. I was pretty good through March, got extremely busy with work, and dropped off in favor of instagram and youtube content.
  2. Read 52 books.– I read 35 books this year! Not perfect, but I read more this year than I have prevviously
  3. Host monthly dinner parties.– I did this! I hosted 11 dinner parties this year, all of which were a delight, and I am so glad I stuck to this one.
  4. Dedicate an hour a day to my personal writing.– Okay, I wrote more this year than I have in any previous year, but I didn’t do this in the way I wanted to.
  5. Limit fast food/eating out to special occassions.- Ha. I think I ate more fast food this year than any year previous, mostly due to general laziness.
  6. Finally pay off the rest of the credit card debt.- Nope. This was a total fail. Thought I’d be done by now, honestly.
  7. Keep up with a weekly “junk journal.”- sort of? I maintained a junk journal for most of the year, but honestly, I enjoyed being part of a small community group than anything else.
  8. Seek opportunities for paid freelance writing.- I was a campaign manager for Calli for a period of time this year, which was great. I didn’t have any bylines doing this, but I did make some money using my industry knowledge.
  9. Do “one fun thing” a month.- While I don’t think I tracked this, I did a lot of fun things this year, and am grateful I spent more time than ever getting myself out there.
  10. Put together the final, finishing touches on home decor/bathroom paint job.- I did this in July, after I changed jobs and could finally have the mental energy to do this.
  11. Build Instagram/Threads audience from where they are.– I grew by 1100 followers across these platforms! It took a lot of work, but I am so happy for the time and energy I put into this!
  12. See a show on broadway(I’m visiting NYC this year, just have to book the show!): I did not go to New York this year(because of said job change), but I did see a pre-broadway show, and visited my local theatre for events at least 6 times.
  13. Spend more time travelling locally.- Sort of? I did some local travel, but have honestly not kept this up in the intended spirit.
  14. Build a regular gym habit.- I am so funny, this did not happen. I bought a treadmill? That’s the closest I got.
  15. Dedicate Sunday to “reset”-meal prepping, planning out the week, cleaning and making sure I have a fresh start.– I did this some, but not as frequestly as I should have.
  16. Thrift first, new last: prioritize buying used items over new when able.– I do this as a habit for the most part.
  17. Start saving for a new car.- I did this a little bit. Honestly, I’ve had to do some home projects(did you know your AC could mold? Because I didn’t), and some car projects(*skull face emoji*), so saved money went towards that.
  18. Use storygraph to track reading.- I did this completely! I love storgraph, it’s infinitely better than other platforms.
  19. Get involved in the local community more.- From volunteer shifts, to clubs, to making new friends, I did this so hard. I’m not keeping everything from this past year going into next year, but I am going to keep diving into community.
  20. Pick a new place to travel to in the fall(maybe in September or October?)– I had a trip to Chicago booked for October, which got cancelled. It just hasn’t been a big travel year for me.
  21. Diversify my music listening habits and try to listen to more new artists.- I have unfortunately doubled down on my favorite artist, resulting in an even more pidgeonholed music taste.
  22. Take meaningful breaks from the “daily grind.”– I took a whole 5 week sabbatical this year! It was amazing, and I am so glad I did this.
  23. Query my book. Yes really. For real this time.- I didn’t do this. I finished writing the book though, so that’s something.
  24. Build up a shoe wardrobe so I don’t wear the same two pairs to everything.- I tried! An attempt was made! I hate shoes! Someone revoke my wannabe Carrie Bradshaw card.
  25. Replace the backpack I’ve been carrying my laptop around in for a decade with a nice looking work appropriate bag.- I did this! One was a gift, and then that bag got replaced as well with a more functional bag.

Was it a perfect year? No. But I managed this list better than in years past.

Onward, to 2026!
