On My Radar #3

A lot happened this week, and a lot of it has been on my radar, so let’s talk about it:

AfterEllen closed and I am #Sad about it. I was never a real reader of AfterEllen, but it’s always heartbreaking when a small website calls it quits. What the closing of the website finally prompted me to do though, was to actually create an A+ membership for Autostraddle. I love Autostraddle, and want to see it thrive and survive as part of our culture, so I am putting my money where my mouth is. As someone who was part of a website that shut down close to a year ago, I can say that the experience is heartbreaking. Our voices are important and valuable, and AfterEllen was a voice that needed to exist. I’m sad it won’t anymore.

I completely forgot about this last week, so here it is, this week: The Brain Scoop started a new show called Natural News from the Field Museum. I have been a fan of this show for a while and I am excited to see them branch out into new and exciting ventures.

As someone who works on campaigns, this article on falling in love while campaigning really caught my attention. I know couples who have met on the Obama 2012 race and are still together, and others still who did the same and fell apart. Politics are complicated. And so is love.

That’s all for this week! What caught your attention this week? Let me know in a comment below.
