A Little Bit of Everything: Reading, Writing, etc.

Dear Reader, I am going to resist the urge to apologize for the lack of schedule, the lack of through line and theme, the lack of any and everything, and I am just going to talk today about what I’m reading, what I’m writing, and all that jazz.

Reading:

I managed to find myself in the midst of three books with no plan on how to finish any of them. I have of course, the Mehek reading trifecta:

  • Queer Jewish Fantasy Novel: The Dyke and the Dybbuk by Ellen Gallford
  • The Project Memoir: Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes
  • And the Self Help Book I don’t actually need to read but am going to anyway: This is Where You Belong, by Melody Warnick

I’m 100 pages into the first, 30 into the second, and 70 into the third, and my goal between now and Thursday is to finish all of them, one at a time. I want to do this because I am tired of being in the middle of books, I want to move on to other books, and I want to finish these books. There are books I genuinely don’t want to finish, and I have set those down, but these, I really want to get through.

Writing:

I’m doing #Nanoredo, a sort of NANOWRIMO do over. November was a terrible month(for obvious reasons) and I got way side tracked. I am sort of half reworking my November concept into a December one, and I am rather excited about the idea. This writing is going better than NANOWRIMO did, and I’m doing better story and plot wise.

I also recently(as in this morning) had an article published in The Mary Sue, which I am very excited about. You can click here to go read it.

Goals:

I want to read more purposefully in the next year. This year, I managed to read 31 books from April to now, and I think I can get to 35 or 36 by the end of the year. Next year, I want to read more fiction, more diversely, and try to read 50 books in the year. The goal I have isn’t rigid, but I think it’s something to aspire to, which is what counts.

I also want to blog more in general. I love this blog, and always feel like I neglect it. So we’re going to do this one day at a time.

That’s all for today. What are you reading? What are you writing? Let me know in a comment below.
