Dear Reader, I’ve blogged quite a bit this year. More consistently than I used to, not as consistently as I wanted to. But I read a lot more than I have any other year that I have been blogging, so I wanted to talk about the best book I read this year.
I read fiction and non, lots of memoir, more self help books than probably healthy. I could say that a solid half of the books I read this year were my “favorite.” But the best book I read this year was…
The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin.
Let me explain. I have read a lot of great books this year. Some have been terrible, some have been amazing, but none have impacted my life in the way that The Happiness Project has.
In The Happiness Project, Rubin outlines a year of her life tracking her habits and making small changes in her life to change her overall happiness. I read this book sometime around May, and in the last 7 months or so, I’ve re-read it more times than I can count. I find myself flipping open chapters when I need a little boost, turning on the audiobook in the car, and following her blog and coordinating podcast.
I’ve changed a lot about my life this year. I am in an entirely different place in my life than I was at the beginning of this year. This book has changed my outlook on life, my relationship with people, and it makes me a better person every time I read it.
