Having read 27 books so far this year, I want to keep going. So far I have been reading randomly, without much regard to what I’ve picked up, and while I’ve enjoyed what I read, I want to approach the rest of the year with a little more planning.
So here is what I plan to read:
At least one book by Malcolm Gladwell: I have a lot of respect for Gladwell after I came across his TED talk on choice and happiness. I have yet, however, to read one of his books. I want to rectify this.
Where Am I Now, By Mara Wilson: As a young kid, I loved Matilda, the book and movie. I have been following Wilson for years online, and I am super excited for her memoir about growing up and growing out of Hollywood.
Buffering, by Hannah Hart: What can I say, I’m a sucker for a good YouTube book. Hannah is an absolute delight, and I hope the book will give more insight into her life.
Cheryl Strayed: Ingrid Nilsen(another YouTuber I love dearly), talks about Strayed’s Brave Enough all the time, and I am really interested in sinking my teeth into it.
Elizabeth Gilbert: I’ve been a little obsessed with Eat, Pray, Love since it came out, and I want to go back and read it, as well as her follow up book and her most recent release, Big Magic. I want to re-read Eat, Pray, Love knowing what we know about Gilbert’s sexuality, and I’m excited to look at it through that lens.
Sandip Roy’s Don’t Let Him Know: I put out a call on twitter for books with Indian/LGBTQ+ protagonists and was recommended exactly one book. I am a little disappointed that this is the only one recommended to me, but I am looking forward to it none the less.
Will I probably read other things besides the ones listed above? Absolutely. I am actually currently reading two books that aren’t on this list. But I think this is a good framework for me between now and December 31st.
Thank you for reading! Let me know in a comment below what is on your list of books you want to read this year.
