I recently read (well, listened to) The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up, by Mari Kondo. People across the internet have reviewed this book, and I am not going to sit here and review the good or bad things. It’s been said, I don’t want to say it again. There have even been NY Times think pieces about her new line of organizing items from Target, which talked about the hypocrisy of selling organizing bins when the book advocates for using basic shoe boxes to organize.

May 2015 Library Haul

So I am not really a book buyer. If I buy books, they are usually used or on super duper clearance. So I tend to rely on my library for books. So, I want to start talking about what I get from the library, what I actually read, what goes back unread, etc. Hopefully this helps me(and you!) in figuring out what’s good, what isn’t, what you should request, etc.

No Greater Agony

Do you have a story inside you that is dying to escape, but you just don’t have the time, or energy, or you get discouraged? Maya Angelou once said “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” When you are holding on to that story, waiting for the right moment, then you are wasting time because you are carrying the burden of your untold story.

Dreamer

When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a story teller. I’d weave extra tales from story prompts at school and treasured school journal time. I wanted to write, but I wasn’t very good at it. I entered competitions in play writing and got the equivalent of a “C”. I hated myself over it. At 16, my family went to a get together. First to arrive, a family friend asked me what I wanted to be when I got older, and what I wanted to do in college.

The Barefoot College Student

I like to commune with the concrete. My feet have slowly built up a fine layer of dead skin to protect them from the cracked acorn shells and dried leaves that have fallen. Cobblestone is the worst. I dropped my phone the other day on the hot stone and the screen didn’t just break, but shattered to the point of being unusable.
